Richard manages FNT Portland’s regional brand and corporate relations strategy. He is also responsible for a number of initiatives with a focus on relationships with the company’s key clients. In addition to community relations and communications, he is assigned special projects including implementation of external affairs strategy for the CFPB’s regulatory changes. As principal creative executive for Fidelity Portland’s strategic marketing consultancy, he works with real estate and lending talent that collectively produces over $2 billion in annual sales volume and also provides leadership for the company’s Private Client Group.
Previously, he worked in the mortgage profession for 12 years directing marketing, public relations, and business development for a locally-owned mortgage broker. In addition to chairing three statewide conventions for the Oregon Association of Mortgage Professionals, he has also been active with a number of real estate professional associations.
Richard’s experience in marketing and brand management, media relations, public affairs, and event production support FNT’s sales organization, business development team, and residential and commercial escrow practice groups. Immediately upon graduating from the University of Oregon School of Journalism, he worked for U.S. Senator Mark O. Hatfield in Washington, D.C. He then co-founded and was chairman and creative principal of Europa Communications – building it to become the largest online media firm in the Pacific Northwest and second largest locally-owned internet service provider in the State of Oregon at the time of its successful sale in 1999. After the sale, he consulted with major clients including PGE and Tektronix in a corporate communications role.
He currently serves as a board member of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation and the University Club Foundation. He also sits on the Membership Committee of Grantmakers of Oregon and Southwest Washington. His prior community involvement includes service on the boards of directors of the University Club of Portland, Portland Opera, Portland Opera Guild, SOLVE, The Old Church Society Inc., PCCA, the University of Oregon Alumni Association and as a trustee of the University of Oregon Foundation. He is a past president of the University Club Foundation.
When not volunteering, his interests include tennis, architecture, collecting art, playing bridge, event planning, and the performing arts. He is a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club, University Club of Portland, and the Washington Athletic Club.
